June 6th was a very busy day at DogsInVests. We welcomed 3 new pups. We have two sisters, Indigo and Jade, and one big boy from a different litter, Kevin. They are getting to know their new puppy raisers and we will have updates on their progress shortly.
Our June 4th Pancakes for Pups was a huge success. We were able to raise over $7000 for our organization. It was also great to have man y of our recipients, puppy raisers and pups in attendance. We had some great vendors in attendance as well. DogsInVests is so grateful to our donors and everyone who cam out despite the rain to support our mission.
We have recently partnered with the Sturtevant Transitional Facility, where we have 3 participants who will be raising our newest sisters, Jade and Indigo. We are fortunate to have had them reach out to us to start a puppy raising program at the facility. Jade and Indigo are settling in nicely and enjoying their time and working on potty training and learning their names. While it is grate for us to have had a group of puppy raisers "fall" into our laps, we are also excited for the benefits that puppy raising will have on the participants. They will learn new skills in dog training and also learn about autism. Other benefits include experiencing the responsibility and emotional aspects that will come throughout the journey. All of this and much more will be carried with them into their future civilian lives. We will keep you updated on the progress and are grateful to have found such a mutually beneficial partnership!
